Ingredients:

  • For the Pie Crust:

    • 1 1/2 cups (188g) all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting

    • 2 tablespoons (25g) granulated sugar

    • 1/4 teaspoon salt

    • 1/2 cup (8 Tbsp; 113g) cold unsalted butter, cubed*

    • 1/4 cup (60ml) ice-cold water, and extra as needed

    • Egg wash: 1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon (15ml) milk

    • Optional: Coarse sugar

    For the Filling:

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT:

Instructions:

  1. Make the pie crust: In a food processor, combine your dry ingredients and pulse quickly. Add cubed cold butter and pulse the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs with pea-sized butter pieces. Slowly add cold water while pulsing until dough comes together. Add a couple more tablespoons of cold water at a time if the dough is too dry.

  2. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured work surface and shape it into a thick disc. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap or parchment paper and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, up to 3 days.

  3. While the dough chills, prepare the filling: In a large bowl, mix the apple slices, brown sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and optional melted infused butter. Cover tightly and refrigerate until the dough is ready.

  4. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll the chilled dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer the rolled dough to the prepared baking sheet.

  6. Arrange the apple filling in the center of the dough, leaving a 2-3-inch border around them. You can spoon the filling on or arrange the apple slices more decoratively. Gently fold the edges of the dough over the filling, overlapping as necessary. Press gently to seal the edges.

  7. Brush the edges of the crust generously with the egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.

  8. Refrigerate the shaped galette for at least 15–20 minutes as the oven preheats and up to 8 hours. If refrigerating for more than a couple of hours, lightly cover to prevent loss of shape.

  9. Bake until the filling is bubbly, and the crust is golden brown, about 35–40 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

  10. If desired, serve with vanilla ice cream.

  11. Leftover galette can be covered and stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Chef's Note:

For a more pronounced cannabis flavor, consider adjusting the amount of infused butter according to personal preference. This versatile Infused Apple Galette offers room for creativity; experiment with different apple varieties or spice combinations to tailor the flavors to your liking. Be mindful of dosage when incorporating the infused butter, ensuring a balanced and enjoyable experience. Refrigerating the galette before baking allows for better flavor melding and preserves its shape during baking. Embrace the simplicity of this recipe to create a charming dessert that marries classic flavors with a subtle infusion for a delightful dining experience.

Always consume cannabis-infused dishes responsibly and in accordance with personal tolerance levels and local regulations.
